As actisim finally starts to heat up around the industry I've been very critical that many retailers and manufacturers have not done enough to point their customers towards the many petitions various folks have written or to send them to the requests for comments at places like the all important FDA. I think mostly it's that they do not wish to alarm the average customer or feel that it's none of their business to be activists or perhaps they fear it may bring unwanted attention by the FDA or anti smoking groups.

Honestly, I really don't know why many have not joined the fight. It's the retailers who have the email lists of all the vapers of the world. It's they who could most quicky mobilize all the vapers, not just those who find the handful of forums or sites like this. It is the retailers and manufacturers who make the most off ecigs and could band together to hire some professional Public Relations folks to help us combat the pros our enemies own.

Over at the Electronic Cigarette Forum's Smoking Everywhere V. FDA Daily Docket Sheet Update there has been great debate this week about how the vaping community should respond and proceed after the U.S. Court of Appeals sided with the FDA in the Smoking Everywhere vs FDA case resulting in a stay of Judge Leon's previous ruling denying their jurisdiction over ecigs until at least September when the court will hear arguments and make a final ruling.

Needless to say most people are outraged, some are confused and sadly many of those the vaping community looks up to as leaders have been arguing with each other instead of taking action while some vendors seem to be finally ready to challenge the FDA themselves.  

As usual in matters this important regarding things I've taken hours to consider and write my thoughts about, I figured I'd share here as well.

ATLANTA (AP) -- Anti-smoking advocates say they know a way to 
help fill the state's $1 billion budget shortfall: hike the tax on 
cigarettes by $1.

They'll hold a rally at the state Capitol on Monday to promote 
the plan. Among those set to attend is Dr. Len Lichtenfeld, the No. 2 medical officer for the American Cancer Society.

The plan wasn't given much chance of passing when the 
legislative session began in January. But the state's steadily 
worsening fiscal picture has legislators scrambling for additional 
revenue. More than 60 co-sponsors have signed onto the bill in the Georgia House.

 I own and operate a small online E-Cigarette business and I have recently adapted a chat feature that I use to communicate with my customers so I might help the customer make the right choice when buying my products. I was on my site today (VapeRite.com) and a person from Chicago came on the chat and asked if I had reoccurring charges. I told her No I don't , what you purchase its all that I charge for. She did not seem to believe me , that there must be some catch to this whole E-Cigarette thing. She asked if E-Cigarettes really work. I told her that I know that they work and to do some research on my page or others. She came back and asked again what kind of monthly charges she would incur. Again I told her that there would be none. She stated that i was a scam artist and quit the chat . I noticed that this person was typing in a search term for "Free E-Cigarettes" How she ended up at my site I have no idea, anyway If you are looking for something free on the Internet you  are asking to get shafted.There are some sites that say they will give you a free E-Cig if they can charge your CC every month to send you more cartridges . I do not do that, and any reputable dealer should not in my opinion. Those type of sites are giving this business a bad name. Just my 2c

 The hidden savings of Vaping 

I recently passed my 100 days of Vaping. Off the top of my head I figure that I have spent about $500.00 perhaps $600.00 on my own personal Vaping equipment since I started. I know that I used to spend about $350.00 per month on American Spirit Cigarettes when I smoked. They cost about $5.60 per pack,So 2 packs a day, well do the math. Anyway, I was talking with my wife about how much I am saving per month Vaping. She brought up a hidden value that I overlooked witch was all the extras. I bought my analog Cigs two packs a day from the corner store and every time I would buy Cigs I would also buy beer , or a coke , a snack or something usually. Since I don't go to that store any longer I don't buy all the extra stuff. If you add all that up over a months time , that's about another 100.00 per month I'm saving! These days every bit helps. I am also looking forward to the money saved by not having to go to the doctor to get prescriptions for smoking related stuff.
