So, this morning I was poking around a website that lists manufacturers and wholesalers from around the world. There are currently 395 different electronic cigarette suppliers listed around the globe, most of them still in China, of course. But then that's not unusual these days. Does anyone else actually manufacture anything any more?

The surprising part is that many of these products say "FDA Approved E cigarette" on them. So, I decided to contact one of the factory representatives who just happened to be online to see what she said.

I have to give her credit. She at first said the e-cigs were FDA approved as drug devices, which we know is not true. Potentially classified perhaps, yes, although that's all still up in the air and tied up in court. But FDA approved? No. Not yet anyway.

But she did go on without any prompting to let me know the liquid was not FDA approved. She said it might take a couple of years for that to happen as it was just in the initial phases. To be honest, that was not what I expected her to say. It was refreshing to see that she didn't try to totally scam me with "FDA Approved! How many shall we ship you today?".
